Western Union is an internationally recognised, global financial services institution that pioneered efficient International Payments to over 200 countries.

Western Union had been using Salesforce successfully across all its worldwide locations for many years. However, it was becoming clear that the efficiencies of running numerous teams in different countries meant that collecting key customer data was becoming cumbersome and fragmented.

Running separate Salesforce systems also meant paying more in license costs. Western Union also had to employ three different IT teams (and the associated costs and overheads) to manage individual Salesforce platforms.

There was also a concern that different territories required different CRM processes, potentially leading to more fragmentation of business data and management. This led to a Call to Action to find a solution to Western Union’s CRM challenge. They completed an internal feasibility study and the findings were that it would be too complex to consolidate Salesforce setups from the various territories and teams as the risk level of failure was too high.
