The Business Challenge

The private medical insurance market has gone through significant regulatory reform, particularly in the two years leading up to this project, meaning that PHC needed to implement some major changes in order to remain compliant. The requirement for PHC’s project with Consleague was that certain group-based contracts that were originally sold to employers to benefit employees must now transition to contracts sold to the employee as an individual who is part of a larger group. Without notable changes in pricing models, underwriting, policy administration, finance, and sales, the growth of the business would have been limited. With Affinity, Consleague were able to find a smart solution to these problems that would bring PHC up to date with regulations and allow them to deftly handle future changes.

The Salesforce Solution for Affinity Implementation

Through our Discovery Mapping Programme, PHC’s technical team was able to work alongside Consleague’s experts to devise an effective solution that could be implemented fast!

By using Lightning Web Components for many modules, we were able to ensure that the solution aligned with Salesforce framework recommendations and will remain future-proof when software updates are released.

The data model and architecture of the Affinity solution was developed in such a way that it would align closely with pre-existing architecture and processes, with code and platform components reused from existing systems, which has kept things familiar and user-friendly for PHC employees.

The new system had to be flexible and sustainable, so all code within the Calculation Engine was streamlined to accommodate Affinity changes and future business functionality and all existing data was migrated, ready for Affinity processing.
